WEB GEMS- Top 5th: Derek Jeter robbed Luis A. Gonzalez of a base hit.
Catcher Javy Lopez added four ribbies to his seasonal total with one swing of
the bat and Jon Lieber tossed a complete game at the ballpark as the
Jefferson Park Penguins beat the Dyersville Jurassics by the count of 6 to
2.
It was a good day for Jefferson Park thanks to Lopez. He slapped a one-base
hit in the 2nd inning, launched a rocket-shot out of the park for a Grand
Slam homerun (his 18th of the season) in the 3rd inning and laced a base-hit
in the 5th inning. After the 4th inning, neither team was able to score.
Lieber(5-4) lasted until the end allowing 2 runs for the win. Tim
Wakefield(5-8) ended up with the loss. He was knocked around, surrendering 4
runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.
